Margaret
Cho ended 1999 with a string of sold-out performances across the US, winning
accolades and awards for her critically-aclaimed autobiographical show
"I'm the One That I Want." The film was shot live in front of a sold-out
audience in Margaret's hometown of San Francisco. Based on her experiences
as the first Asian-Ameican to star in her own sitcom, All-American Girl,
"I'm the One that I Want" chronicles Margaret Cho's meteoric rise and
near fatal demise during and afer the groundbreaking series and her subsequent
recovery. Now 31, Margaret has emerged clean, sober, more confident and
funnier than ever. Her experiences in Hollywood, her relationship with
her mother and her struggles with her own personal demons became the raw
material for "I'm the One that I Want," which opened off-Broadway and
sold-out a recordbreaking 11 weeks. "I'm the One That I Want" is dazzling
display of comedic genius, feminist moxie, and inspiring humanity. Margaret
leads her audience on a tour of her fame, loss, self-loathing and finally
redemption with brazen wit and confessional honest creating what is sure
to be the funniest film of the year! |
