“Ehlen’s first feature is a ragged, high-spirited farce that gives gender-twister Tootsie a 180-degree spin...just when [it] seems to be going in a predictable direction, Ehlen throws in a clever curve ball. Also funny is Olivia Nix as roommate Lola.” — Kyle Buchanan, Advocate.com

Jamie Klein (writer/director Michelle Ehlen) is an out of work actor willing to try almost anything for a role. She continually faces rejection in auditon after audition. She even goes as far as dressing up as a “Femme” for auditions but it doesn’t help. To make matters worse, her roommate Lola’s (Olivia Nix) cat, Howard, is enjoying a succesful acting career.

When her best friend convinces to go to interviews as herself, “Butch Jamie,” she finally lands a movie role...as a man! Desperate, she begrudgingly accepts the role, transforming herself into “Male Jamie.” On set, she starts to have fun struting around as her male alter-ego. The plot thickens as Jamie unintentionally peaks the interests of Jill (Tiffany Anne Carrin), a sexy yet straight woman on set. Winner of the Grand Jury Award for Outstanding Actress in a Feature Film at Outfest 2007, Butch Jamie is a quirky, gender-bending comedy that is often hilarious and always sincere.
